GPX File For Yorkshire Dales Wanted

Post by Vara Mac »

Hi Folks,

Just in the process of trying to put together a GPX file round trip of BOATs and unclassified / unsurfaced roads in the Yorkshire Dales for a day out green laning. I knew it wasn't going to be quick or easy before I started but it's taking a lot more time than I thought it might! Just wondered if anyone already had something that I could just upload and follow? Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Mac.

I'll be on my CRF250L and my mate on his DRZ400, neither of us have a lot of experience off road but we're not easily put off and will have a bash at pretty much anything.

Cheers

Mac.

The TET traverses the Dales and, although not a loop, covers some of the prettier trails

Thanks guys, excellent site for the BOATs Earwig.

bfgjohno, have you done the TET in that area? Would it be unclassified / unsurfaced roads as well as ghe BOATs and regular tarmac?

Cheers

Yes, I have done it. It's a mix of trails and types, all legal.

If you're in the trf (highly recommended) you can a code to access trailwise which will show you all the trails in the area of any type- though cross reference these with the YDNP website to ensure they are still legal.

another great source of information is the county council web site, type in
nycc highways
click on roads records and searches
then click on the sentence highlighted in blue"view our interactive map" nearly all the unclassified roads are shown on the map,
that's the good news bad news it does not include the closed routes and non are way marked but with an explorer series os it is all possible
