Hi Fellow Euro Trash..
Early yes but there`s a lot to plan..
Hving been grounded to the Uk this year due to money etc I`m making up for it in 2012 with a 3k 10day Euro tour...
Starting in Calais then Leige , Trier, Lindau [lake Constance] ..
Then follow the Alpenstrasse along the Bavarian Mountains to Bad Reichenhall before heading south to Leinze in Austria via the Grossenlocker pass?
Then down to Slovenia to lake Bled and Bohinjska [ your heart will melt] before heading back by who knows what route but probably Italy and France..
Anyone have any must use roads along the route ..and anyone interested in tagging along..
Camping enroute [sites and wild] moving along most days with large distances no real huge speeds just taking in the scenery/roads and Biking navarna..
Tramps Sept 2012 Euro Tour..
Re: Tramps Sept 2012 Euro Tour..
Any where in the Dolomites is a must plenty of great roads on the passes around Canazei which is then an easy link back through Austria if your heading back that way.
Just riding a bike is an adventure

Hi Dave..as the title says september 2012
..
no particular dates yet just after the kids return to school so mid sept..
The Slovanian side of the Dolomites is well .. :woohoo: B) very rugged and spectacular..so prob do the slov side then cut south a bit and back up Italian side to Austria as I`ll have paid for the Carnet stickers..might as well use them.
Prob route back via Mullhouse and St Dizier with a wild camp up in the champagne region..[know a nice spot] before tolls back to calais.
Thinking is a hack down to Fussen then 2 nights on site and do Alpenstrasse with no panniers. then jump over to Gross and then slovenia.
I`ll be travelling lite and getting food on route as required..so basics.
Tent, sleeping bag, roll mat, cooker and pans..few clothes and wash kit. So for me thats 2 panniers and Rollbag and a wine box.
it`d be nice to have someone along if only for parts of the route etc..as we all like a yak in the evening over some wine..beer.

Hi Tomekc..
I`d like to keep this kinda small numbers..so 4-5 its friendly like and not for ever checking the rear view mirror to see where everyone is.I`ll do routes for the gps so people ride as they wish and we have meet points..safety first as always
But like all things I get involved in they just snowball.. :woohoo: :woohoo:
The main Aim is to see northern slovenia as its a beautiful place with excellent roads and surfaces too..people friendly and great wine. Chosen September as the Gross pass will be open for sure and the weather warm but rain always possible in the mountains.
Thinking that a 12 day tour is better..so
2 days to Bavaria-Etaps/wild camping
1 day tour of Bavaria- Alpenstrasse east to west-Lindau to konigsee.. camping at Fussen..2 nights
2 day to slovenia via Austria-camp on route/Etaps
4 days tour of Northern slovenia based at Bled camping [excellent site] inc trip into the Capital Ljubliyana..
leaving 3 days for the return trip via Austria,Gernmany and France via Motorways/fast roads
I`ve visited Bavaria and Slovenia before...this is about 3000mls in total and a few Gravel tracks nothing serious though..the Aim is to see the place and views ..

Hi guys...
Been thinking hard and its limited to 4 riders max ...and here`s a link to a ADV report to show what we can get upto...I really think offroad types are required like k60 or pirelli mt21 or TKc1s incase we get into the muddy/gravely stuff..
Also 2 weeks is about the right lenght of time but as always people decide what they want to do..

Considering the disstance to gravel tracks, i would take the off-road tyres on the bike and replace them closer to gravel part of trip, than possibly change them back onto road ones for way back.....
