2 stroke Gilera XR1 Adventure bike

Post by WesleyDRZ400 »

I got rid of my old KDX250 and later regretted it however the downfalls whilst going for blasts out was the small tank/ pre mix so i was limited on range.

This weekend i had a very low ebay bid win on this bike which turns up tomorrow, it looks in top condition and appears very well looked after and according to the bike spec it holds 22 liters fuel and 2 liters in oil tank.

Apparently they are quit rare as the xr1 model was only made for one year back in 1988.

Anyone ever owned one or its brother bike the xr2?

16km on the clock. The guy picking it up for me today did not believe me when i told him its 29 years old (thumbs)

water cooled with a power band system fitted like all the retro 2 smokes from that age.

I looked on how many are there on the road website and none in UK as per that site, did some digging around on the net and seems a very rare bike...... hope parts are not so rare

Wow what an unusual bike, never seen one of those before. I presume it was Gilera's answer to the Aprillia Tuareg 125.
Always fancied a Gilera RC600 but never ever found one for sale.
Nice one Wesley (thumbs)

Not being facetious, but wtf is a 'powerband system'? ....did you mean power valve?
