Alsace changed hands a few times between France and Germany.

And Britain 'owned' Calais for a while......of all the places we could have had, why Calais.....apart from the cheap booze...... but I suspect that wasn't available then.

Now on a 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400X but may be fitter next year.

Old Git Ray wrote:I have a great idea about elections generally.

We should double up on each one. i.e 2 general elections, 2 referendums etc for the same set of results, say 4 weeks apart.

This would allow the stupid sheep to realise where they went wrong and also those that don't like the result of the first round to get out of bed and actually vote in the second.

What do you lot think ?

PS I just edited out 'shooed' instead of should. But maybe the electorate are being shooed around anyway ...

Yep, morphine and fentanyl.

Leaving which bits exactly, all we are going to end up with is a trade deal that replaces half the crap from membership. Even Mrs May(hem) doesn't know what Brexit really means yet.

Which may be why she called the election. I suspect that she is party to more detailed advice than the rest of us and maybe she knows how dire it is really going to be if we leave the EU (something she never wanted in the first place). Therefore she is giving voters a second chance, so that if they vote Brexit again this time they will have a bit more information.
Of course a general election is about more than Brexit and even if I had voted Leave I could not vote for a party which seems to be systematically destroying our public services and determined to widen the gap between rich and poor.
cheers Jak

AlanHolt wrote:It's a clever way of giving the public a second referendum. If one party promises to remain, that party will win. May wasn't elected as the countries leader by the people, and 52% of the people don't want to be ruled by unelected people, this is what the brexiteers wanted, democracy, sovereignty and us remoaners get our chance to overthrow brexit with what I feel is a 2nd referendum.
The lib dems are already doing that, and they are not going to win.

and FYI, I am rather tired of saying this, but in the UK constitution the people vote for the PARTY they want, not the leader - we are not a republic. The party chooses its leader, the people DO NOT. So please, enough of the nonsense about not voting for brown, not voting for may, its totally irrelevant because we do not vote for the leader. Clear enough I hope.

So in or out of the eu, brexiteers will still be ruled by an unelected leader!

I've just read that there has been a sudden increase in the number of young people registering to vote. It's going to be an interesting election.
