March Moto Madness (Wales) 2017

We're doing it again, but this time we went all out...based at Sweetlamb (Adventure Bike Academy) in the Cambrian Mountains of Mid Wales, set in over 5,000 acres of pristine Trails and rally routes..with tuition for newbies and off road virgins on bikes of ANY size and guides who know the lanes like the back of their hands. VERY limited places left as we're accommodating you in the on site Bunkhouse..24th to the 26th of March# All food and accommodation included, just bring your bike, a sleeping bag and some beer!

Things have changed. I was at the very 1st in the Lake district and it was free. Looks like I will have to get a job so I can afford to do some of these

I was there with you Dazzer. Only 2 or 3 years ago...

Dave: you forgot the 11p! And you can sleep in your own (or your bf's...) sleeping bag as well as supplying your own alc.

Looks like I'll be washing my hair that weekend. Or heading elsewhere.

PS. I just bought half a car for that money!

There's still the alternative at Haggs Bank Bunkhouse, which is A lovely place, up in the clouds on't moors for much less money..unfortunately it doesn't include exclusive unrestricted access to 5,000 acres of privately owned mountains...as used by WRC teams for many years (and the Rally GB as part of their route) - that ain't cheap to hire,,factor in hot food, drying room, hot showers, accommodation, guides, tuition, jet wash, onsite workshop, Insurance cover, free recovery van if required etc - (oh and we even have Wifi for those who must be connected) each of which actually costs money too...

...That's why it ain't £35.00 for a weekend in a muddy field in a cold tent...there are plenty of such events round the uk year long..this ain't one.

Last year it was £87.50 in a different bunkhouse somewhere else...do you own maths about venue hire etc..

For a well organised unique event and acess its not bad value...it wouldnt sell out if people thought it was crap lol....

Its not a abr rally for sure...

at last...a voice in the wilderness..lol..s'true though, some serious organisation went into this..and you gotta love it when people with no intention whatsoever of ever attending..(or even dragging themselves away from a keyboard for a minute) feel the need to express a view..but then opinions are like assholes, we've all got 'em, but not everyone should make theirs public for matters of taste and decency...PS there's only 8 places left and it's only been open for 48 hours, so I guess that speaks volumes...

This is how things are changing .

The original idea for the MMM was great. Had it of continued down the same road it would have been a great place for novice riders to come along ( for free ) and meet more experienced riders who all of which are happy to pass on any help they can. Wether that be trail riding ..packing and preparing your bike for touring or changing tyres and the likes.


I used to think it took 5 years from the 1st event like this until it became a event like your offering. The sad thing is that once a event changes from its original idea there are some riders who stop attending which is a sad loss.

This also means that riders that are maybe new to trail riding or riders that want to try different types of riding and camping then have to pay to attend these weekends.

It losses something when it gets to this stage.

I was under the impression the MMM was about a bunch of mates meeting up and doing some trail riding and having a laugh .

Myself and a few friends were doing what your now doing, for many years and never charged anyone more than the farmer wanted for us all to camp on his land.

Back then we were happy to get other riders involved in trail riding and we always catered for all skill levels and no one was ever left behind if the broke down.

I'm sure they will be plenty of riders who want to sign up and have this great experience your offering.

Its just that I'm old school and was happy not to be making loads of money out of people who wanted to learn about trail riding .

Your also right in that I have no intention on attend. Why would I pay all that money for what I can do every day for the price of my fuel.

I really Like the look of this,

Have been looking at doing an Adventure Training Weekend and compared to the price of those this seems very reasonable.

Being pretty beginnerish though, i don't want to hold everyone else up, are you aiming at any specific levels/experience?
