new to this site

Post by jackofall »

Hi all. Newbie to this site but a member of other related forums. I'm based in southern England near Poole, Dorset. Been riding for years, mainly road biased bikes (vfr, ninja etc). Just purchased my first "adv bike". Well adventure for me anyway, the 2016 Honda cb500x!! Yes I know it isnt classed as ADV bike but it is a surprising little machine. Nimble round town, capable of tackling my local farm tracks & loves A and B roads (leaves my mates behind on their Tigers) & is willing on motorways tho not for too long (might change the gearing when they are due)! Anyway, hope to learn a bit from you members and maybe even share my limited knowledge.

Welcome aboard Jack,

Those bikes have a growing following and there are upgrade kits available from a company called Rally Raid. Here is a link to a review.

And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

I've seen the RR stuff before. Looks good and i'm sure if i was heading toward rtw ambitions that would be the way to go. So far for me the standard bike is great at most things i throw at it. I live on a farm so have access to off tarmac fun & so far it copes with all but mud plugging in the woods!! X owners on another forum have done some pretty intense terrain with the right tyres fitted so.... Anyway thanks for the welcome, i hope to gain some adv knowledge for future times.
