yeah .. I Always put it in first gear, if only to stop it moving if bumped by pedestrians. I sometimes use a cable lock, but often forget to take it out with me (doh). perhaps a more substantial chain will make me think more about parked security.
yes, I agree that light and portable is just an anti-opportunist non-pro deterrent, but is better than nothing I suppose. I just wonder how much of all this is purely in the mind?
I usually stay withing a hundred yards of my parked bike, most usually almost in touching distance, but admit that I am paranoid on this matter.
it doesn't help that I keep dreaming about my bike getting pinched, ever since I did get one pinched. last night I even dreamt that my CAR got pinched from outside a house ... FFS !!
I also realised that if I was a 100 yards away and the bike was being lifted, I would not get there in time? and that people would not take any notice of an alarm going off or disc cutter being used if the `people` doing it were wearing hi viz and official marked up van, and making a lot of noise.
do I need therapy .. or a really big f off chain?
(I notice it don't seem to worry other folk)

It would be handy if bike designers allowed for a strong box to carry a heavy chain. under the seat ? perhaps even permanently fixed to a strong point. or at least a permanent shackle on the frame. but it would not be cool would it.

A strong alloy shackle either side below the seat could be used as tie down points for transport and ferries.

Honda do a u lock for the nc750 but its £100 :blink:
it fits nicely inside the frunk.
I see that most u locks are about 100 mm wide .. you can just about squeeze one around the front wheel, but not the rear wheel .. and anyway, the wheels are easily and quickly removed with a simple spanner, innit.
where u supposed to put them ?
through the wheel spokes?
.. and anyway I think they need to be chained to a post or something.
a wide strong u lock with a hd chain would be good, but do u carry it on the rear rack if u got one? in a carry pack? back pack? .. its all very awkward.

I've got to be brutal here and say that if I owned a Honda NC750 the last thing I'd be doing would be trying to stop someone from nicking it. I'd be more inclined to look on it as a blessing in disguise and use the opportunity to buy something better (thumbs)

Also a U lock is just about the easiest lock to break.
Besides, who would actually nick an NC750? the guys mates would take the piss "wtf are you doing with half a jazz engine you dick head" etc
