Biker camping / other places in France open in October

A few of us are planning a loop around France in October. Most of the camp sites would be closed by then , anyone have a list of alternate places to camp for example, biker places . Looking in around the Lyon area but also plan to be further north .

Some of the municipal ones stay open longer but you may be down to cold showers by then and an honour box to pay. May be more reliable to head for the industrial estates and use the budget hotel chains which oft have a restaurant attached or close by. Not the full French experience I know but you get a dry bed, either that or stealth camp.

If three of you take the bunk room at http://motobreaks.com/ it will cost each of you very little more than a campsite, plus you are guaranteed a dry night with a great bar, workshop for your bikes, meals available etc etc.

Might be a good place to build it into your loop, especially in October when you might not get the best of weather. OK, I'm biased because Chris is a good mate and I live down the road, but nobody leaves Motobreaks without good things to say.

difficult to find out whats open

I use Archies to find municipal campsites, then it will be a question of checking with the town's website to see what is open.

I am usually through france in october and find most sites open, the later you go the worse it gets. I struggled last year mid oct down around the med coast but they were all big beach sites not such a problem inland.

I traveled through France last week ,most of the campsites close at the end of this week, now in Spain and Iv been told the same thing .Al

We are a biker b&b and also offer camping. I can't guarantee the pool will still be open in October but the bar always is! B)
We are 40 minutes south of Limoges in the Limousin
