Passport query
Passport query
Planning a 7 day jaunt early September, and my passport runs out early February. We used to do alot of long haul package holidays and i remember they used to like you to have 6 months on your passport from travel date. I can't see a problem with it being within the eu where we are travelling. I don't want the hassle of applying for a new one. So has anyone had a problem with this ?? Cheers. Sid

For EU countries your passport is valid up to its expiry date (thumbs)

Re: Passport query
The confusion arises because the normal requirement when applying for a visa is six months left on the passport.
As said above, the passport for normal travel is valid until its expiry date.

Re: Passport query
No problem for any country that doesn't require a visa.

I renewed recently - Quick and Easy ... 10 yrs plus the 5 remaining months
Quick turn-around too

Re: Passport query
I recently renewed, quick & simple (only 4 sections of the form to fill) roughly 7 day turn around without the need for additional "check & send" just fill in the form, enclose all the nessesary items, £2.10 signed for at the post office. Then as soon as it arrived I sent it back as I was applying for a 2nd passport, again a simple 6-7 day process so now I have 2 passports. It's more hassle waiting for the courier to drop it off.

I've been in France 16 years now, also tour all over Europe.
I have never had to show my passport, except when leaving bloody UK.

Head south or east of Austria and you'll need one quite frequently now. You also get asked for your passport when checking into hotels because we don't have an ID card and most places won't accept a driving licence.Stray Dog wrote:I've been in France 16 years now, also tour all over Europe.
