I have bought a Scalarider Q1 just to use the available bluetooth voice directions given by my bike GPS.

The microphone stuck across my face which is attached to the loudspeaker ear phones fitted into my helmet is not needed by me.

Can I just cut the wire and discard it?

No, the mike picks up ambient noise levels which then adjust the speaker output.

Hi clodhopper
I have an older scalarider and bend the mike back on its self and tuck it under its clamp out of the way.

You don't need the mic, just unplug it from the unit. If you plan on touring get a blank jack plug for the female connection in the unit to stop water getting into the open hole.
