We just moved house, we was planning not moving until the summer but then the Tories sprung the new stamp duty hike for owning a second home so it was 20 viewings in a week booked in before xmas. Not an ideal time as i work in the oil/gas sector and loads of people have lost there jobs but when it the ideal time?

Main factor was a house we could expand over time and also either a garage/workshop or room to build one.

Ending up with a nice 1900's style house which needs lots of work, has a double garage in the middle of the garden which is very long as probably could fit 4 cars in it (thumbs)

We have just started fixing the garage up first by replacing the doors and painting inside, white walls with a light grey epoxy resin floor

Also will fit a log burner and make it into a great workshop/mancave, alot to do but looking forward to it all

That screwed me too. I had to crop £5k off my house sale as the buyer will get stung another £13k come next month.

Total £25k stamp duty. WTF.

First link I've tried on my iPad so if it doesn't work search rubber checker plate on eBay loads of different patterns cost me about £110 at the time.
Did you glue the rubber down because I'd be concerned about it lifting at the seams? I suppose some seriously heavy duty double sided tape would do the job without the risk of leaving bits of rubber stuck down if you ever decided to lift it for any reason but it'd still be a slight concern.

As it stands I'll be slapping light grey floor paint over mine to keep the inevitable concrete dust to a minimum but rubber matting certainly appeals.

I was seriously pissed off when I got into lifting the wooden floor off our garage today and found large areas of expanded foam under there where the previous owner had obviously tried putting it in then got bored.

I've had trouble lighting my man cave for a while. I had two strip lights and three bulbs.

The other day I was in tesco and saw light bulbs at 3 for a fiver, they were 122 watts that look like 150 watts. I had a punt and the difference is stunning. I don't need the strip lights any more (thumbs)
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.
