Light problem

Soldering is a bit like making love to a beautiful woman. First you get everything prepared and stripped down where necessary, get everything nice and warm, put the two parts together and when they're very hot and sticky together, pull away, a quick wipe and you're done :S

that's where I went wrong. I just shoved the parts together, got frustrated when I couldn't complete the job quickly, then got a bit bored as it was taking too much time.
