The 950/990 is still the king offroad , GS1200 and some other bikes will be superior tourers , the AT falls somewhere in between , nearly as good as the katoom offroad , this was expected but keep in mind that bikes can be modified so after weight loss , some suspension and engine work this thing will be very capable for a big bike .

Yepp, I do that with my Transalp and it has knobblies on the front.

My old 1985 XL600LM had tubeless. Must be down to money

Maybe they wanted something, apart from the name, that is common to the old AT :dry:

Tubed tyres are a negative for me too.
