disc brake lock

Post by jonah »

Does anyone know if those disc locks with alarms fitted in them are any good ? I don't want something like a bit of wind setting off the alarm at 3 in the morning

I have a Xena (with alarm) for the front wheel, and have been using it for years when out and about.
It is solid and loud when set off, but never had any issue with it sounding off by the wind, if it did then the gusts would have had to be extremely strong to knock the wheel about and blow the bike over.

Don't know about other models. ( locks ;)

Got Xena too.had to get internals replaced (for free)after few weeks cos was randomly off in my backpack at work. Same happen now if it was rainy night and condensation occur once indor. Does not set off in winds.also sensitivity can be adjusted either in12 o clock position or 6. Overall I like it.

Top tip 1. A Google of 'best motorcycle disk lock alarm' turns up the answer you need and more besides.

Narrow down your search to three and maybe return here for final sanction or fine tuning.... Or live dangerously on the edge.

Stick a pin in and buy one. 365 days later (or perhaps less, or maybe more) you'll know if your choice was a good 'un.... Though you'll not know if one of the other two would have been any better; which might be of some comfort or an ongoing sore of some distress. That's life, I'm afraid.

Top tip 2. If you've splashed out on a duff 'un and assuming that someone's not nicked the disk lock (alarm wailing or not) along with your bike. Pack it up nicely and sell it. Someone will buy it, that's for certain. They'll be happy and no doubt so will you.
