Garmin Montana 600 - your thoughts ??!!

Post by Kinioo »

Hi All,

Started to think about Garmin Montana 600 as a motorbike / bicycle navi.

Know nothing about it (checked few YT videos);

What is your thoughts??

Good / Bad ??

Overpriced ??

Not cheap - is it worth it ??

Does it do the job on bike (c/w motorbike cradle)??

What is the sensible price to pay for it ??

Where to look for it ??

Better to buy a bundle or unit / maps / mount separately ??

Cheers

Got one, really like it. Expensive new and maps the same. Memory Map has a better display, but not as many features.
I bought mine second hand and then maps separately. I may have got just as good a deal buying new with maps bundled in. I have the powered mount and this works really well but, is it necessary as the battery will last most of the day and a spare is no more expensive than the mount (I discovered this after I bought the mount of course).
Would I get another? Yes, but probably the one with the memory map option as you can then pick the bits of a country that you actually need and want for your journey. This unit is bloody expensive to buy though and not yet on the secondhand market.

I have one, bought on recommendation of a guy in South Africa who really knew his sat nav mapping stuff and contributed to various mapping projects down there. That was good enough for me and I have been very pleased with it.
