ive got a factory lowered f650gs not used it in ages as i have more fun on the c90 , 90 is low, light, carries all , cheap to run and fix and im never in a hurry because i want to see all , at borders i get through quick and without bribes because they feel sorry for me on that stupid little bike , thats it really , take what suits you , no one else can tell you what you need , you will work it out . If you want to buy a low f650 give me a call haha

Here is a list of useful bikes for you. Out of these I would choose the DR650 if its low enough. I think it combines all round ability with reliability and the fixability. There is a company selling new ones on ebay or there are plenty of used ones set up for long distance adventure. :cheer:
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

At the end of the day what ever bike you get it will get you there and yes you will have issues with what ever bike you chose so keep it simple! FACT ! Your more likely to get honda fixed out there than a BMW gs which needs a laptop I did Africa on a 1990 Africa twin u had some issues but overcome them thanks to a Haynes manual , after all it's an adventure. ! Just have fun and what ever happens take your time !!!!!

I've just finished a book by Alan Whelan "African Brew Ha-Ha"

He rides to South Africa solo 14,000 miles from his home in UK, with only his Triumph Tiger for company while on his "tea tour" of Africa.

I brought his book for 1p on amazon
