Last time I camped @ Takoda, just before Christmas I think, I had problems opening the tent zips in the mornings.
These were so iced up & frozen that I thought they were going to break with my strains to free them.
Any preventative measures & what to do to free them would be appreciated. Thankyou.

Rub the zip with WD40 or equilivant water repellent. or you could try bees wax another alternative.
The achievement is in....every stranger that is now a friend.

Pitch up in the shower blocks!
Just wondering if a tarp pitched frontways (I.E.) front pole taken out over night and pegged down might work to keep the worst of the elements away, or was it iced inside due to condensation? If it's the latter perhaps better venting?

In the good ol' days they used to recommend candle wax to lubricate zips.

ICED UP TENT ZIPS !
Sure was a cold Saturday night
A tarp over the front of my tent stopped the porch from freezing & meant it was less muddy to get in / out. A sheet of ice formed on the tarp!
Never thought a tarp would be that useful... til I got one. Want a bigger one now

Yea.
Took the tarp with me but as we had that mess room didn't bother with it.
So Tarp & a drop of wax for the future. (thumbs)

Bigger isn't always better. I bought a 5m tarp thinking it'd be brilliant but it was just too big so I've gone back to a 3m one now.Bernard Smith wrote:Tarps rule Elle - we all have tarp envy as well....Elle wrote:Sure was a cold Saturday night
