I've been thinking about a route that heads East instead of West and picks up some roads through the Dales. It's not a part of the world I'm very familiar with, so have picked roads that look interesting on my map - lots of up and down and round and round! - and 2 of the Nature Rally points (numbers 8 & 9). B)
I also picked a biker cafe (Manor Cafe) but they've just emailed me to say they don't open until 18th, but we can pop in anyway!! :silly:
The route is nearly 200 miles, which allowing for suitable breaks and with a group will probably take around 6 hours, perhaps longer. But as the saying goes, it's an adventure! :woohoo:
I'm happy to lead a group if anyone wants to join me, pace will be appropriate to road and weather conditions, so if you're looking for a race look elsewhere!
Hopefully the route is attached...

Re: Road Riders - alternative to the Lakes Route
This is my proposed route. Just depends on the weather!
Setting off from Burnley area.
Barley (over pendle Hill - famous for the witches)
Downham (where born and bred was filmed)
Clitheroe
Sawley
Bolton by Bowland
Long Preston
Settle
Ingleton
If weather is nice I will be taking a right after Ingleton centre onto Thornton Lane towards Thornton in Lonsdsale. A cracking narrow twisty road with some of the best views in the area. Lots of Limestone formations. There are a few gates over the pass but worth the effort.
Dent (quaint cobbled village)
Take a left after Dent over the great Garbondale road pass (not to be missed)
Barbon
Devils Bridge for a brew (famous biker meeting place)
A683 up to Kirkby Stephen.
Anyone welcome to join me if you like a slowish but scenic route.

is that your route up to the Rally on Friday? If so, I'd be happy to meet up at say, Barley, and ride up together (I live just south of Rochdale).
I was proposing a ride-out route for the Saturday, starting and finishing at the Campsite.

Sounds perfect. If I leave around 9.30 I should get there in plenty of time. Where's good to meet?XTrider wrote:Yes thats my ride up route on the Friday. Im only 10mins from Barley. What time you thinking of setting off? I've got the day off so was thinking about 10:30.

Sounds good Paul, how about meeting at the big carpark in Barley at 10:30, there is a little cafe there. ( The Cabin - not sure what time it opens). I will pm you my mobile just in case there are any problems.

Judging by the amount of bikes going mate, I'd say an Eastern alternative is a great idea.
Nice one.
