I've made these with the scouts. They do work
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Yep, they work surprisingly well. Cheap and effective.

One note of caution, these things are pretty fragile. I can imagine if they were bouncing round in a pannier all day they would be broken before dinner.

Just buy a can of pop or beer and make another  .... I had to get more cans of beer as my stove broke.Brenhden wrote:One note of caution, these things are pretty fragile. I can imagine if they were bouncing round in a pannier all day they would be broken before dinner.

Cracking bits of kit. I use mine in preferance to the multifuel stove in the winter mountains while bivvying. The great thing is nothing to go wrong. I make mine no more than about an inch and a half tall then they remain robust. Coke can is still my favourite design with 12 hole plus a centre one for filling...drop a penny over the centre when burning for a more 'hob' like flame.
