I'm thinking about getting a Shoei Hornet DS and have a few questions

Does my ass look big in these?

Maybe not the best helmet for a sports bike!! :silly:
Depends on what sport you plan to do on your bike! :woohoo:

Where did I say anything about a sports bike?
Don't take my comment too literally! Just meant that if you're planning to go often over that speed, this helmet is not the best choice...

Just checked deffo fits in Zega Pro.
Love the helmet but do not use the KTM touring screen. The turbulence will pop your eyes out.

KTM Deano wrote:1) There is no dark visor (only a light tint) listed for the hornet. I normally prefer to have a dark visor fitted during the day. Shoei do list a dark pinlock though. Does anybody know how good these are in comparison and are they easy enough to change with visor fitted to helmet?
I find the Shoei tint to be pretty light so I use a dark pinlock fitted to the tinted visor. During the winter I use a clear pinlock.

Contrary to what is posted above the peak does not have to come off completely to change the visor but the two side fittings do have to be loosened. The plastic fixing screws are prone to break if overtightened continuously. Don't ask me how I know this, but mine have been replaced with stainless screws.

KTM Deano wrote:2) How effective is the peak and are there any problems at slightly higher speeds?
The peak is fine for me but YMMV. I stuck some adhesive wheel balancing weights under the peak which dampens out any vibration.

KTM Deano wrote:3) Will this fit into a Touratech Zega Pro top box. This is a deal breaker as I need to be able to store my helmet in the box once it is parked up.
Sorry, can't help you with this one but it does drop into my 11" wide Ard Cases.
