Mountain Hardwear Lamina, allways what I recommended to aspirant Mountain Leaders. Especially for our damp climate. No problem if it get wet, glued seams so no cold spots and no issues like down for cleaningand ageing. Feelis like down as well.

I have down from a few years back, but would only ever use synthetic. Unless I'm in the alps where it's dry and cold.

I use a mammut Ajungilak winter bag. It came with an expander panel in it and few other adjustable bits. It's not the latest one had it a few years but it's a nice warm bag when cold and when it's warm sleep on top of it excellent padding! For a winter bag using a compression sack I can get a reasonable pack size.

Realy good buy @ the moment.
A bit more bulky than the rab but a lot cheaper.
Great quality & used by the UK military.
Synthetic fill which is a lot more damp proof than feathers.

+1 For this bag I used it at the last dragon rally, don't think I will take it to Ullapool it is a bit warm for this time of year (I hope)

Just bought this meself. Real good quality at a tidy price. Tis a bit warm at the mo and dont quite pack down but theres not denying that if you want the extra warmth its truly worth it. depends when and where you want it for. if too warm an a tad too heavey get the 2/3 and a bag liner... swings and roundabouts mate..

I've got two vangos, one a 2-3 season and the other is a 3-4 season, both very good and pack small, used loads of times.
The one I'd recommend for colder nights is the vango ultra lite 900, I got mine for £50 but they are a bit more now.

Down every time for me. I have had a couple of Synthetic bags and the fillings breaks up after a few years but you don't know until its a cold night and you are wondering why you are freezing cold despite your -10 rated bag. Looked after down will last nearly forever.

I am also of the buy cheap buy twice conviction when it comes to things like down bags. Aim for a high "fill power" and high ratio down to feathers and you will have a warm light bag. Look for water resistant pertex to keep the down dry and pack directly into a dry bag when travelling. It's unlikely to get wet.

A down bag also has a broader "comfort zone" than a synthetic bag so you can use in warmer weather too. Most bags are quoted at their "extreme" ratings but the comfort zone is the one to look for. There's an EN standard so comparisons should be valid.

If A wet down bag is worse than useless then a wet synthetic bag is only just a bit better. Think about what it would really be like getting into a wet sleeping bag of whatever fill. Yeuch!! - time to check into a B&B and borrow their tumble drier.

I have down bags by Nanok, good but leaks down, and Helsport - fantastic, wide, warm and light but eyewateringly expensive unless the UK importer owes you a favour and uou can get it at wholesale price

I have used Alpkit for a lot of my camping gear, my sleeping bag is a pipedream 600, pack size pretty small and wonderfully warm and comfortable https://www.alpkit.com/pipedream .I bought a head torch from them a few years ago and used and abused it until the battery case broke, I sent a mail and they said post it back and they would see what they could do,a couple of days later its returned with a new battery pack and as good as new, no charge.Thats what I call outstanding customer service.
I would recommend the company and the sleeping bag.
