Nice Afternoon .. Complete with Freezing Wind & Snow Drifts

Post by LargeWayRound »

18th March 2011

The weather in Aberdeen finally got a little better today, with that strange yellow thing in the sky ?
Was still quite cold but I was desperate to get out on the bike to test out the brakes, which I had just finished servicing.

So left the house about 2pm , for a turn round the block. The brakes seemed fine , but told myself just go a little further just to make sure.

10 miles in, stopped for a check over , fag etc ... yip everything fine .

Headed up to the cairnomount.

Got some pictures and not hanging around , because of the force 4 wind and so freeeekin' cold .

Took the back roads home , stopped off at forestry track car park, nearly dropped the TA in some mud , got soaked in a ford ..

Got home , me and bike muddy .. Freezing cold but big smiles all round ..

Jenifer said so " How's the brakes then? "

" Fine " I answered

I was working up in Glenlivet the last couple of days, Ballindalloch too, the snow was the killer yesterday, the wind was the killer today! Breakdown cover for Grantown on Spey depot, no snow here in Elgin, blue skies and sunshine but once up Speyside plenty of snow on the ground!
I'm going to settle for day trips this weekend as the forecast's not great.
A week to go for the Tiger coming home!

Glad you had a good ride out mate, going a bit stir crazy myself!

I did see Ray's post, I'm not sure what he's doing, I think he's going for the soft option, B&B! I did say it would be weather dependent if I was going and snow forecast in the west this weekend coupled with the snow lying on the higher routes I'm giving it a miss. I could use the excuse the Ickle Beemer needs fork seals,,, again! That and the Vara's not going out on those roads, they're white with salt up here!
Better weather will be with us soon mate, we'll be out enjoying the roads soon enough!
