Had a great day with Mick scouting for routes. Learnt loads!

[ol]
[li]Tourance tyres at 36psi are very limited off road[/li]
[li]how to fall gracefully[/li]
[li]What a godsend barkbusters and crash bars are[/li]
[li]Switch the bloody ABS off[/li]
[li]How lucky we are to have such gorgeous countryside to play in[/li]
[/ol]

And we think we claimed a first. Underground biking! :woohoo: Went down a mine shaft. This pic was about 150m in following a shaft about 4' wide and 6' tall. The things we do to plan the 'Boil Rally' routes. No need to go to the alps for a tunnel.

Captured loads of videos, so when I have the time to learn how to edit I will put a teaser together.

That quarry is called 'Hodge Close'.
Treat every situation like a dog..

If you can't hump it or eat it, piss on it and walk away.

Yep, Hodge Close. Its as deep with water as it is high and there's been a few dead divers caught in the underwater tunnels and the mad jump in - not recommended. Also good for wild camping if you keep it low profile and off the beaten track.

The bit of mangled metal you can see in the background at water level used to be the landing pad from the 150ft abseil, until the side wall collapsed.

Minkyhead, As you ride up from the Conistor Road side with the quarry on your right did you carry straight on and do the 'off-road' to Grasmere 'ish way ?

I'm not booked to the campsite for the Boil but being in Carlisle could I meet up with folks for the Mega do ALL the passes tour, or how about the western lakes and around the wee coast roads as well ?
