Have a couple of VT500s at the moment, a 82 Ascot that I sold 15 years ago never moved out of the area recently brought it back and a 83 VT500E rat bike that I brought as spares then decided to make a tracker out of it, work in progress.

A mate had one of these from new and racked 10's of 1000's miles and some seriously long journeys on it, it never missed a beat. I seem to remember that his only issues were not being able to carry much gear and the front brake ?! But I'd guess a good basis for a project bike, thanks for sharing.
