Camping Recipes
Ok need some inspiration for this weekends trip. Am bringing a cheapo case stove and a small cooking kit. Need simple one or two pot recipes that go well with a bottle of wine or some good beer. Inspire me....

A can of Hienz big soup with several hobknobs broken into it just before serving. If in France then a tin of choucroutte garnie always goes down well with fresh bread.
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

Re: Camping Recipes
For evening its hard to beat pasta and a nice sauce. Lots to choose from in the supermarkets. Compact and quick to prepare
Breakfast-large bap with a couple of sausages, bacon and an egg, some sauce-hard to beat and sets you up for the day.

Re: Camping Recipes
if a jesse isnt handy to cook a 20 course curry, then walls micro sausages are the best camp food secret ive found. they are precooked, packed in pairs in nitrogen so last a while unfridged, and taste good.
stand in a pan of water a pouch of "look what we found" meatballs and a pouch of tilda or uncle bens basmati or pilaf rice, bring the water to the boil, food is hot and youve got enough clean boiling water for a coffee. stoves only on for five minutes, saves gas.
also works well with a ziplock bag of beaten eggs, give them a shake now and then for "scrambled"
quesadillas are great, tortilla wrap, diced onion and cheese inside, fold over and fry in very little oil pressing down so the bread toasts and the cheese oozes out
poor mans hotdog- tortilla wrap, kabano or pepperami or similar thin spicy sausage, kraft cheese slices. roll 1/2 sausage in cheese slice, squirt of heinz fiery chilli ketchup then roll in 1/2 wrap. light fry again as above.

Re: Camping Recipes
Depends if you're taking the food with you or if you're going to buy at a local supermarket/store when you get your tent pitched up?
The former, as someone suggested taking some easy cook pasta, there's plenty of choices out there and tbh you don't really need the butter and milk to cook in as it says on the pack, just cook in half milk, half water of you've got no milk take some milk powder. If you've got a hearty appetite you can always throw a bit more pasta into your food stash.
Other things you can cook if you're taking the food with you;
Stir fry rice (packet stuff, you can also add more rice of your own)
Take a tin of stewing steak and a tin of cooked new potatoes and peas and sweetcorn put them in the same pan, add a few herbs/spices and you've got a decent stew.
If you're buying fresh stuff local, you can always do a "breakfast" in the same pan, cook off sausages to start with, after a few minutes, throw in a few rashers of bacon, a couple of minutes later add, mushrooms, tomatoes, crack in a couple of eggs and you're done.
Another one for fresh is to buy a can of tinned potatoes, some fresh mince, an onion, couple of oxo cubes, can of tomatoes (or fresh). You can fry the mince off, throw in the chopped onion, dice the potatoes and throw in along with the tin of tomatoes. Up to you at this stage? Can either add some chilli powder and some kidney beans and rice and you've a chilli con carne. Other option is to add a good teaspoon of oregano and basil and you've got yourself a half decent ragu, add some pasta or failing that, get a French loaf or crusty bread and tuck in!
Happy eating
