Clearly this requires us to cross the Alps at some point, and I've no intention of using the tunnels and motorways if it can be avoided so my question is this. If you were headed to Italy from the UK which route would you take?
Please bear in mind that said friend will be on a Ducati 900SS, so it might be best to identify all cooperative bike garages enroute and join the dots
Seriously though, I fancy taking in a fair few passes on the way down and back, but the schedule only really allows 4 days down and 4 back (with one day in the factory) and Jase is keen to ride the Stelvio which limits our choice of route a bit for on of those legs.
What's the thinking on passes being open in mid-June? I know there's likely to still be snow around then but hope that the roads themselves will be clear and ice-free.
As usual any tips gratefully received B)
