Day 7 continued
From Andorra to my favorite city
Carcassonne.
Stopping to look at a Cathor castle, only from the road as was wanting to get along to Carcassonne.
Once there a quick swim and a glass of wine then down town to a resturant in the city square.
After eating a quick look around.
Then back to the campsite.
Mileage today was 216
Mileage so far was 1417

We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go Always a little further: it may be Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow, Across that angry or that glimmering sea.

That's Roda de Isabena I guess. Your first photo is of the Congost de Mont-rebei* ravine taken from the C1311 - more or less in my back yard as my holidasy cottage is further along that road on the Tremp side of the sierra. You've done a spectacular long range photo of a difficult subject!barnhatter wrote:Day 7
Sorry about the delay.
Today I went from Roda through Andorra and into France.
Not my most favorite bit of my trip.
Next time will go a different way
Now into France and into the Cathar country of Aude.
The second image looks like the pass at the 'Pont de Boixols' near the same village on the L511. Some of the HISS trails are in the mountains to either side of this fantastic road.
Inevitably your route to Andorra from there is on the terrible C14 from Lleida to La Seu d'Urgell. Absolutely horrid but worth is for the C1311 / L511 run! But if you want to do roughly the same northboutd turn towards France next take a look at the C13 from Sort over to Vielha, which goes over the Port de Bonaigua pass, a seriously brilliant ride!
Thanks for the lovely report matey - looking forward to the next episode!

* there's an amazing and short walk through the ravine, which is almost unique in the region for not having a road through it. The path is literally carved out of the rock about 80 metres up the cliff face. Not a jolly for the vertigenously challenged!
