Danielle (aka KTM Dan) and myself, Dave (aka Spannerfingers)are up for this on our KTM690s. We're both pretty experienced off-road but the 690 for Dan is probably like a 1200 for most off-road capable blokes.

Thanks for that. It wasn't our dog and Dan's crash broke the F800GS's radiator bracket. The BMW is not as tough as the KTM690 !
Talking of which, we've just come back from crossing Western China and the F800GSs we used there had all kinds of problems (e.g. notchy headstock bearings, oil seepage from the head, overheating and cutting out). I hope it was just lack of maintenance and/or hard use by previous riders.
