northern ireland/Ireland campsites ???
off to ireland in a couple of weeks been looking for campsites but all im finding are caravan and holiday park type places. Any websites for searching for simpler campsites near pubs or something.Specific areas im looking at include: achill island, coloraine to londonderry and Gorteeny/ lakyle area. Or anywhere in those areas or that are worth a look really can always change route

Re: northern ireland/Ireland campsites ???
Hi,
There is a good site in the Mourne mountains, check out Meelmore Lodge on google. In County Down approximitly 30 miles south from Belfast. Some good mountain and coast roads in the area for the motorbike. The campsite also has a cafe and there is also a hostel there if you choose to upgrade from a tent. It is about five miles from the coastal town of Newcastle, which is popular for bikers at the weekends.
Murlough Bay between Ballycastle and Cushendun (off the Torr Head road) on the north coast is a good wee spot for a bit of wild campimg.

Re: northern ireland/Ireland campsites ???
hi, most of the camp sites around ireland are fairly basic and close to small villages or towns with some great pubs, check out caraving and camping Ireland this gives every campsite in Ireland,
One of my favourite routes is from west cork (kinsale to Glengariff)to kerry via kenmare kilarney killorgan and on up the west coast up to Galway.
So great twisties and fantastic scenery.
If your in Tipperary call for a cupa the kettel is always boiled.
Enjoy your trip.

hello, as Hopper said campsites are basic and easy to find around here. if you ride around by the coast you will never be stuck for a place to pitch your tent and if you get stuck ask any rural pub and most will let you camp for the night.. Another site is, ''DiscoverIreland.com''
