Did anyone else have their hand warmer wiring burn up? The wires are tiny, so I'm not surprised that the amperage draw would melt them, but I am surprised they were so under-designed.
Or do you suppose they just rubbed the frame over the course of a few years and exposed a short?

I figured it was those twist-tie thin wires. Another design flaw without reason, since they've had very effective hand warmers on snowmobiles for decades.
Thanks for the compliment on the bike. I love it, too...bought it new in 1990 and have an embarrassingly low 28,000 miles on it. I'm starting to clean it up lately and ride more often these days, and I'm falling in Love with it all over again, even with the quirks and fitment issues that go along with a first-year production model.
