WELCOME TO THE ADVENTURE BIKE RIDER NATURE RALLY 2011

2011 I hope will be a great year for ABR and I have spoken to Alun who has very kindly endorsed a UK Adventure Rally for any rider of any bike.

The idea is inspired by the USA Iron Butt riders National Parks ride. It's been adapted before and this time Forests have been added to our nature rally.

The idea is to visit as many of the National Parks and Forests of the UK in 12 months. Running from 01 Jan 2011 to 01 Jan 2012. At the end Alun will be running an article in the 2012 issue of ABR.

There may also be some goodies involved ;)

There is NO charge to join the rally as it costs me nothing but some time and time working on bikes is time well spent in my book.

If you want to raise some money for charity for this event then you are free to open a justgiving page or the like and raise the money for what cause you wish.

How it works -

I will open a thread (If Alun would be kind enough to sticky it) and update the riders and their rally number (yes you can request to have a number personal to you) and log the Parks and Forests that they have visited on the leader board.

It serves as an excuse to get out on the bike if you are ever bored and thinking of a ride. It can be done in groups or on your own.

Proof - In the best tradition of biking the proof is by photograph of your bike, your rally plate and the location.

Certificate - Yes there will be a certificate for you at the end of the rally. Three levels of award:

GOLD = 20 Locations
SILVER = 15 Locations
BRONZE = 10 Locations

Great idea James. I'm in.

And if anyone wants an ABR sticker to pimp up their bike for the photos we've had some more printed. Send your name and address to emily@adventurebikerider.com and she'll send you one.

You mean I get to visit nature reserves AND ride my bike? Perfect. I'm intending to start on my bandit but if I get my flat tracker finished before I start, I'll use that.

I'm probably being a bit thick here James so bear with me, but where do I get a Rally plate and number from?
The end of the road is the start of the fun

You can either get a sheet of A4 and a marker, put your number on it or print one off if you have a printer.

If anyone wants to design one with a gap in the middle for people to put their own number then great! :)
