....you told her/him
'right, that's it I'm off for 6 months on a RTW trip'.
I've just asked the question and the answers were as follows;
Yes, she would still be here when I returned
No, she would not talk to me for 6 months after my return - maybe there's a mathematical equation here which goes like this.
Time spent on trip = time partner sends you to Coventry.
What would your partner say if....
Re:What would your partner say if....
I think the problem is your question was fatally flawed.
You should be asking "Why don't we both take 6 mths out for a RTW trip together?"
How could anyone refuse/resist that one???!!!

Re:What would your partner say if....
Negotiating with my better half has always been the hardest part of trip planning!
I have found that most negotiations settle on an hour in the spa for her for every day I am on the road. Sadly that means I have some serious saving to do before a six month trip is possible.

Well, Fiona would just say when are we going? We've toured Europe for years now and would love to spend more time touring.

A couple of years ago I read both of Lois' books, they made me want to do the same. Saw a talk she gave a couple of months back too, same thoughts.
Until the kids grow up and leave it's going to have to stay a dream though. Probably won't happen then either, but I still have the dreams.
Same here. I bought the motorcycle adventure handbook earlier this year, I wanted to start packing after only a few pages!I just get the look, change the subject and go back to reading and dreaming

Re:What would your partner say if....
Be carefull before setting off, twice I have left on 6 month trips with girlfriend "waiting" for me, I have yet to return to find one still there. The idea of taking your partner with you is much better, even if she just joins you for a few weeks.

Re:What would your partner say if....
It's finding the perfect partner that's the problem! I've always been into bikes, be it road bikes, dirt bikes, I took a shine to adventure bikes 12yrs ago when I bought my first KLR Tengai, followed by five Africa twins, a Tiger and two Varadero's! I'm currently riding a VA9 Varadero which I love to bits. My partner Fiona has an F650GS which she uses as a runaround and occasional touring here in the UK but when we go abroad we take the mighty Varadero two up. If we could afford to give up our jobs (I can't take a sabbatical) there's a good chance we'd agree to go touring for six months in a heartbeat! An adventure shared is so much better!
