Anyone out there using a KTM 690 for everything??

Have a F800GS at the mo and it is great, but wanting to do more laning but only want the one bike. Had a Superduke so love KTMs and the 690 has got my eye! I know a 300/450 proper enduro would be better but I worry about all the servicing etc.

So who's using them and what do you reckon for the one bike fits all?

i love ktm's (i race one) but as they don't do a 690 adventure bike i ended up buying a new tenere. i just can't understand why ktm don't have a 690 adv bike in their range. people have started making their own. i think there might be one in the pipeline as i was told 'watch this space' the other day by a dealer ......
i hope they make it economical on fuel though as the 950/990 advntures are pretty dire with regards to fuel useage.

I don't know why they didn't do one either.

Loads of guys on advrider making adventure bikes out of 525 EXCs but they need oil coolers and various other things and I don't really see the point at all, certainly not for the UK where we just dont have long trails out in the middle of nowhere

Rally Raid makes products to turn your 690 into an adventure bike, though not cheap. I hope KTMs next true adventure bike is an 800 with a DECENT SCREEN THAT WORKS !

At the NEC show i asked them the very same question on the KTM stand, I got the impression I was not the first by a very long way!

Hi John,
There's nothing I don't like about the GS, I reckon it's a Jack of all trades and no doubt could be the one bike solution in more capable hands than mine. I'm after somthing lighter for greenlaning but can't really justify two bikes. It will go down trails and I've ridden it round some easy sections at an MX practice area, but I know if I drop it repeatedly on a tricky track I'll give myself a hernia.

kiteboy your dilemna is the same reason that i bought my X-Challenge.... would have got the 690 if i could have afforded it....
