Massive thanks to all, Russ it was blinding I had a fantastic day and learnt a huge amount. Popped my off road cherry! Just jumping in the shower, thought I might bring the bike in with me, it looks like some ass hole dropped it in a clay pit. Grinning from ear to ear and working out how to do it all again.
Isn't off road brilliant

Cheers to all again

ooh err, special K!! sounds fantastic!!!

glad all enjoyed it and you all had a marked improvement by the end of the day.. as we said, a little more experience and you'll realise what those big ol' lumps are capable of... i conked out on the A36 on the way home.... music was up too loud so didn't hear my engine gasping for fuel... onto reserve at 175miles is a bit short, but i guess we weren't doing motorway speeds.... well maybe for some of the perimeter roads eh russ..

harry i thought win green was the second highest place in dorset?

i decided the bike could wait until tomorrow to get washed, have taken the dog for a walk and relaxing in front of the telly/computer.... for those of you in our group, check the photo thread shortly for a treat.. well i say shortly, some time tonight... won't say more, except that i reckon harry (old boots) must kill on the dancefloor...

Well we had a ball too, rode loads of new lanes to me :) We only had one off as a GS tried to demolish a fence...the fence won. I am sure pics will be along,I was banned from the camera as the holiday snaps are on it so did'nt bring it. A really chilled day riding with good folks out in the sun (and rain),can't ask for more really, thanks for organising it peeps. B) Nice of the Army to lay on the helicopter escort and patrols to guide us through the excercise area too.

Good day had by us 4 from herts. The gs tried to demolish a fence on the wet lane yes the only wet lane but then it was drizzling. He didn't succeed, the fence won. Luckily no injuries well only pride.
A great day.
Cheers to everyone who had any thing to do with the organising.
I know I can do that that's why I'm not going to try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly, and most sincerely, I would like to thank Tramp for posting the image of me picking up my bike.

Moving on...

As a direct consequence of the great day yesterday, I wrote this to my local TRF secretary this morning:
"... I ride a BMW F800GS and will be using this for my trail riding. I know that such bikes are not in the same league as bikes typically used by TRF members and that my access to many of the trails or trail sections will be restricted but this is where my passion lies. My plan is to get to know my local legal trails around North Devon and sus out the ones I can ride. These will be very easy to begin with and I will build my skills slowly. I have completed a level 1 BMW off-road course and done some trail riding (the last one yesterday see http://www.adventurebikerider.com/forum ... this-.html ) but am a beginner and will take great care (walking routes first being my first plan). With this in mind I'll be contacting Brian Sussex to request memory map overlays. If you know anyone with a similar interest in riding trails suitable for larger capacity bikes, say 600cc and above, please feel free to pass them my contact details (see below). ..."

So, if you want to join me in exploring North Devon trails, please contact me via this forum. Also, please pass this on to anyone you know who might be interested.

Thanks again to the organisers and participators - it was just brilliant.

Ross

Yep, thanks to all who arranged this - an excellent day out! Only one scary moment for me on a downhill gravelly section when I went into a rut and inadvertently cracked the throttle open while in second gear. I went down the hill totally out of control, legs flailing everywhere, but managed to stay on through sheer good luck.

By the way .................. who the f*ck is steve?
