Boil camping

Post by Gaffer64 »

Hi All,

Just a few pointers about camping and the site.

1. Unpacked the tent that has not been out for a while - how to get rid of slight smell?

2. How to get rid of the smell of plastic taste/smell with a new water bag?

3. How to get rid of metal smell/taste in a metal small camping kettle?

4. Is the 'Takoda camp site' softish ground or do I need re-inforced pegs?

Looking forwards to seeing you all there, do we book any ride outs when we get there. I am likely to get there about midday on the Friday.

Cheers

To get rid of the metallic taste in your kettle.
This is where I sound like uncle Albert from only fools

When I was in the army and we got new mess tins, we used to get a large pan of water, get it to a rolling boil and put the mess tins in it and boil them for about 5 mins. It worked on them, might work for the kettle assuming you've got a pan big enough for it to go in.

If all else fails go with Herman on the JD front and good luck trying to find an adult.

I can only add to that.
1; JD (Enough of it and you'll not smell the tent!)
2; JD
3; JD
4; I found the ground ok, quite soft really, but then JD does numb the feeling!

There's always a few adults going about, none as nice as Maria though! ;)

What he said.

You don't really need a water bladder at Takoda as they have a drinking water tap outside the main building so you cna just fill your kettle as and when.
