Beddowsm Wales Rally Ride Report
Beddowsm Wales Rally Ride Report
Fantastic days trails in South and Mid Wales.
Thanks to those that came along with me. I had a great time, hope you did as well. All great riders.
Me, 950 ADV
Sparkton, 950 ADV
NBrett40, 950 SE
Felco, 660 Tenere
TimCat, 690 Enduro
Coasty, 1150 GS
As arranged we all left the campsite at 0845 and headed straight for the first trail of the day, the Sarn Helen. A fantastic long trail with a couple of techincal bits to keep it interesting.
Heres Coasty retrieving a bit of his 1150 on the Sarn river crossing. His gear lever also broke here......no idea how he managed to ride trails for the rest of the day!
We did a few muddy overgrown....obviously not well used trails.
Respect for Coasty for going on his 1150. Far too much of a beast for most to handle. And NBrett40 who managed it all on what appeared to be slick tyres!

Nice one Mike. Wish I could of come but best man duties called so had give this one a miss. Hopefully make up for it in a couple weeks.

Re: Beddowsm Ride Report
More overgrown muddy trails. Pretty hard going with little grip.
The group......bar the photo taker!
The aim of the day was to get up to the Strata Florida. It was unknown if we would be able to do this trail after all the recent rain....but took the risk and went up anyway. And we managed it. The flow wasnt too bad, and the deepest parts were not much more than thigh depth. Game on. Fantastic trail.
From the South the second river crossing is the key, if you can get across that the rest should be OK. But one of us didnt get across. NBrett40 dropped it in the deep section submerging his 950SE. Luckily it started again.
Felco decides he want to go for a swim.

Re: Beddowsm Ride Report
It had been raining heavy for most of the Strata Florida. Those that managed to avoid going for a swim were soaked. We rode the Clarwen dam and were pretty much frozen by the end of it. Ride ended about 1645. I headed North home, Jim went East and the other 4 went South back to the campsite. Shame I couldnt make it for both nights.
As always great to ride with Sparkton, Felco and Timcat. And great to ride with 2 new faces, Coasty and NBrett40. All were great riders. Thanks for coming along on the 1 way ride. I had a great time.

Great write up and pics Mike. No wonder you looked like you had aged 10 years on your arrival home. Looked like a fun, but tough day

At that rate he'll be older than me by the end of summer !!Lady Beddows wrote:Great write up and pics Mike. No wonder you looked like you had aged 10 years on your arrival home. Looked like a fun, but tough day
Sorry - "summer" is an entirely inappropriate word - I mean the end of the school holidays
Re: Beddowsm Wales Rally Ride Report
Thanks Mike for leading and the report, certainly a day to remember. Bashplate ripped off gear lever snapped .... well thats the first trail out of the way !!
Onto spots falling off, most electrics packing up (fortunately not my heated grips)and a couple of drops.
All in all one of the best days trail riding ever, i'll be locktighting all the bolts on the bike from now on.
Great bunch of people to ride with and looking forward to next time.
(and a wheelie master class ...who could ask for more )
