This ride out is my favorite loop of South Wales taking in all the cultural and scenic highlights of Gods country on roads you wouldn't know existed unless you spent your youth looking for quite lanes to spend time with the girlfiend. We'll also be riding over the 3 highest passes in South Wales, which just so happen to be 3 of the 4 highest in the whole of Wales.

Starting out from the campsite we'll be climbing over the Rhigos mountain on Alpine style roads and stopping for a coffee at the van on the summit to take in the view of the whole of the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountain ranges.

We'll then be dropping down into the famous old mining valley of the Rhondda and passing through Treorchy before heading up the Bwlch Mountain (highest pass) on yet more alpine style roads. It's then down the Garw Valley and the single track lanes up the lower hills overlooking the Vale of Glamorgan with views extending over the river Severn into Somerset.

We'll have a major pit stop in Pontypridd where you'll be able to sample Clarks Pies - the finest pies in the world.

From Ponty we'll head on over to Abergaveny and then a fantastic single track through the Black Mountains taking us up and over the 2nd highest pass and down into the literary capital of the world Hay on Wye.

From Hay we'll plod to Brecon and then up and over the Brecon Beacons and back to the campsite.

High ground sounds good :)

That will be a fantastic ride so +1 for me. Hoping I can still make the rally, bike has a few issues which might not be fixed in time :(
