Glad you got your tyre sorted, shame you needed a new one, but lucky it didn't cause an accident and only prevented play for the latter half of the ride. It was a pleasure to meet you and hear about your travels.

Very true about the weather!

fairyplum wrote:My second attempt at replying so forgive if two appear. Thank you for organising a great day on the green lanes. Shame I got a puncture. Have had to get a new tyre...ouch...but keeping the old one to mend myself as they won't mend a hole bigger than 3mm. Thanks for uploading photos..good to see. I wait for more!
PS woke up to rain , wet and cold here in North norfolk so weren't we lucky??

I've just been looking at the GPX I have from lunch onwards and we did 219 km / 136 miles, from Swaffham onwards. Still aching, so unfit!

Thanks to everyone for a great day out. Hope I didn't hold folk back.
It was a good mix of trails and I learned a lot. Wish I'd discovered riding off road a decade or 2 ago!

Local TRF man Mike looking slightly dubious about the range of bikes and tyres down for the green lane ride out at the morning role call.

No expense was spared at the ABR rally; James and Gog had arranged for Marcel Marceau to rise from the grave to wave us off.

And we were off literally. The first lane out of Holt was overgrown, wet and very slippery.

The green lanes of England were as green as they're ever going to get after a month of rain.

The further west we rode the wetter it got.

The Peddars Way supplies mile after mile of green lane riding which in dry conditions would be Gold Wing friendly.

Norfolk is full of pig farms, something we'd have first hand experience of later on the ride

As we rode south the s became drier and more sandy..............

And last but not least a big, big thank you to Mike for being an all round good guy and leading a fantastic ABR green lane ride out.

great photos Alun. Watching Mike chuck that GS around was a delight. He was fab.

I took my trousers out of the washing machine last night and they still smell :-( And the splashes of poo went inside my helmet. That still smells, despite copious amounts of disinfectant.

Alun, do you have the co-ordinates for that ford, its not the one at Castle Acre which is north of Swaffham as that has a wooden bridge?
Finally back on a GS :D
