ABR Midlands Rally 2015 (24th, 25th and 26th July 2015)

Post by Alun »

For the past 4 years the ABR Midlands Rally has been held in at Granby Farm, near Halford in deepest, darkest Warwickshire. In 2015 we'll be hosting a meet on 24th, 25th and 26th of July 2015. Everyone is welcome, it doesn't matter what bike you ride or if you're into road or off road riding.

Granby Farm is about 8 miles out of Stratford upon Avon with full off-road, enduro and trials riding on site. Plus, for those who prefer their riding on tarmac there'll be guided road rides taking in the best of the local sites, scenes and roads.

We'll be camping in a fantastic rural location, about as far away from civilisation as you can get in, er, Warwickshire. It's a wild camp, which means it's just a field but we will be hiring in Portaloos for the more cultured rally goer.

Charles the farmer will be providing enough wood for us to do our best at enhancing global warming and Huw's catering van will be on-site for the full duration serving delicacies ranging from bacon sandwiches (with brown sauce) to curry and chips in polystyrene trays.

There'll be a guided green lane ride out on the Saturday and the Enduro course on the farm is there for you to ride at any time. We'll also be looking into setting up a trials course. Subject to the weather and ground conditions the enduro circuits are mostly big bike friendly plus there are areas better suited to lighter off-roaders. Basically, it's as easy or as tough as you want it.

The 'Bog of Doom' challenge will be back on for 2015 and if you attended over the past couple of years you'll be aware that Mike Beddows and Craigrevo made crossing the mud gulch look about as difficult as drinking a pint of cider on a hot sunny day.

Ride outs

1 Road tours of the best roads in the Cotswolds - with a cream tea and scones – and if there's enough interest a longer distance foray into Mid Wales on some of the finest roads in the country.

2 Enduro and mud plugging at the venue

3 Green lane tours of the Cotswolds and nearby countryside. In 2012 and 13 the green lane ride-outs were very popular and the group size was way to big so in we'll be keeping group sizes down and hopefully have more ride leaders on hand to show you the best of what the area has on offer.

The ice cream van sells ice cream and the stuff that makes you fall down if you drink to much of it.
