The 2016 ABR Ireland Rally will be held over the weekend of Friday 29th April.
With the excellent feedback from members at last years event, together with the superb reception from the site owner, our venue this year will again be the Shepherds Rest, near Draperstown.
This is an excellent location, very biker friendly with very good facilities, washrooms, showers etc, and most importantly a bar on site (thumbs)
From Dublin the distance is around 125 miles / 2hrs 15min
From Belfast the distance is around 50 miles / 1hr
Full details here www.shepherdsrestpub.com
Camping fees have been negotiated to remain the same as last year and will be £5 pppn. This will be collected on site by the host after your arrival. A breakfast menu is not available, but this will be factored into the early part of the Ride-Out. Unfortunately that means self catering for breakfast on Sunday morning
For those wishing to B&B, there is no option on site this time round, but Flintlock has been in contact with a hostel type place that offers a bed only but no breakfast but it's 5 miles away.
Details here www.kilcronaghan.co.uk
The campsite may have some 'Camping Pods' installed on site later in the year, but it is not clear at this time if they will be available for our rally this year.
There will be only one planned ride out and this will be on Saturday around the Sperrins Mountains then into Co. Fermanagh and possibly a border incursion across into Co. Donegal.
For those who don't know, Fermanagh is an outstanding area of natural beauty with its many lakes and rivers etc. The ride will include some rough single track tarmac which is in a poor condition but can be done on road tyres.
Feel free to explore the surrounding area if this is not for you.
There is no off road option at this event.
Programme
Friday 29th Meet and Greet. Bar facilities available to help you talk bikes and general bollox
Saturday 30th. Planned all day ride out through the Sperrins, Co. Fermanagh and the surrounding areas. This will be lead by Flintlock
(Flintlock will post a more comprehensive route in due course with more details)
On our return to the Shepherds Rest in the evening, the owner will provide catering. Last year he laid on a 3 course buffet style meal, upstairs in a private function room for £10pp. In my opinion excellent value (thumbs)
Again the 'Bar' will be open and some entertainment will be provided.
Sunday 1st. Back to the real world .
There is no restriction on numbers attending so get 'yer' name down.
PS Please note
The site owner has made me aware that another bike meet will be taking place over the same weekend at this venue who will be attending the Cookstown 100 Road Races. (15 tents)
