New ABR Website and Forum

At long last....all being well this is the week we'll be upgrading the ABR website and forum.

The main points are:

The site will be migrated from the old Joomla software to an up to date Wordpress site.
The forum will be migrated from Kunena (Joomla) to a current version of PHPBB

The big challenge has been in upgrading the forum with the main bulk of all the posts having already been migrated to a test site. All appears to be working fine and hopefully that will be the case when we go live.

In order to migrate all posts up to date we will be taking the forum off line this week for a 24 to 48 hour period, hopefully less.

The main problem with the migration from Kunena to PHPBB (or any other forum software) is that we are not able to migrate passwords. So, all forum members will be receiving an automated email with a temporary log in password which can then be changed when you log in. These emails will be sent to the email address which you used to register for the ABR site and forum.

The new site and forum software is long overdue and will provide answers and solutions for long standing issues such as image upload, mobile friendly etc.

Here's hoping the transition is smooth and problem free.

What do you recommend we do when the forum is down?
Retire to the workshop/pub/trails????? Or visit some showrooms?

The current site isn't so bad--so an upgrade will be even better--well done the team-although its all Dutch to me!(I hope I can still use that expression without offence!). I note on your "sister" site--ADV (which I use quite a lot because of dedicated forum threads for obscure bikes--and its worldwide) I can now upload pics now straight from my desktop and they are automatically resized-I'm assuming that this upgrade will be similar--I don't need that wretched Peebucket any more :cheer: .

Happy days - thanks for all the work you and the team put into this site, it's a brilliant resource and (having been to the Midland Rally) a great community too (thumbs)

I no longer have my "registered" email address - how can I get my current address into your system?

Excellent stuff even though it seems pretty good anyway.
Will it compensate for my appalling typing skills?
You couldn't sort out the TRF forum while you're at it? :) :)

If you click 'Profile' and then 'edit details' you can change your email address. Let me know when you've done it and I'll double check on the database.

Great news.
I don't think the forum is that bad but moving to phpbb should future proof it and Wordpress is outstanding. So grea decision over all.
Good luck for the move.
I used to do this sort of stuff and it put my head away. Hopefully it all goes smoothly (thumbs)
