I don't get them either.
I would like to though I too have missed a few which sort of defeats the purpose.

I asked about it a while back too and got nowhere really. I don't receive any notifications anymore for PMs or Subscribed topics despite the settings being correct and my email settings being checked (Hotmail if it matters)

On a similar note, the profile section is a nightmare to change your signature, you have to click links and then manually change the URL to get to some of the screens. Only been like this for about half a year

It's a shame really as it's just a few finishing touches that'd be nice, especially after they fixed the awful slow and DB errors that were happening last year. Just grin and bear it.
