You need to get away from the city, if you want to see what these bikes are about the old model is better for tootling about on,
If your not wringing its neck there crap so get it down some open roads and ride it like it,s not yours and don't take any notice of the sound they make it all comes together when you nail it

My favourite driving road in the south is the A272 start at Winchester and follow it through the South Downs. I used to live down there. It's very pretty! (thumbs)

I've knackered my knee unfortunately. I probably won't be up to it, but let me see how I'm getting on :)

The 272 can be busy and over policed...plenty of the nearby roads are more scenic and better for riding..have a look at the c18 from Petersfield to the A32, and also the road over old winchester hill from West Meon village...you could do the 272 from Winchester to Petersfield, then the c18 turn left onto A32 past Loomies ( biker cafe with decent food ), then take the road over old winchester hill then make your way across to the A285 from Chichester up to Petworth ( use the B2149 to Rowlands castle to Chichester ( 2148? )and then across to the A29 and back up to London.............

I agree with Gedge, while the A272 has some nice parts to it, the downsides are too great. Check this thread for an idea I posted on a similar topic: ABR Route Suggestion Thread

Battersea makes for an effortless exit of the city down the A3.

Pretty much...enjoy the views from the top of old winchester hill....try a reroute from Leigh park to Funtington though as thats one of the best bits ( try searching for Emsworth common road Havant and that should pick it up for you )
