Re: Printing from basecamp or google earth
Tramp, this started with the problem of getting printed maps of Spain, which for all intents and purposes don't exist - believe me, I know! - as opposed to Catalonia where they are a) available b) cheap and c) amazing (thumbs)Tramp wrote:No..the topo are yellow the spanish maps are black.....but exactly the same coverage ...
All of the maps are based on the same core data, as we both know  - but the representation varies considerably some more suited to print, reading, etc. . . .

Cheers, the end product will me 1x1.5 metres, and the text readable at six feet . . . not bad for 3,844 square miles :whistle:bond_yzf wrote:hmy: good luck with that, it would take me a lifetime and then some :laugh:The Spanish Biker wrote:Or spend a lifetime learning Photoshop - I'm about to ask my friend to cut and paste fifty-odd trais from Wikiloc/Basecamp:bond_yzf wrote:seems better to use the snipping tool to screenshot and crop

I agree wit Russ, and this applies to both paper and digital maps.bond_yzf wrote:the vibraction site is updated as trails/routes change, so its a simple print out the link and change in the roadbook
You're right about the Vibractions updates, highly commendable, but there is a limit. Lat year's horrendous rainfall more or less wiped out lots of trails - or at least made them much more technical than before. So you have to be prepared for what you find . . .
I think the most reliable thing about the Vibractions updates is whether the trails are legal or asphalted over, but I've known some real gaffs - take a look through David Decoster's topic - he found some fairly major changes like new road bridges over railways, etc. that made it quite difficult to get back on the trails etc. but weren't in the updates.
All part of the adventure . . .
When are you planning your trip?
