The way that works for me and isnt what garmin says lol..i have my maps on sd cards and as cards are cheap i have 2 pf each so just leave one in satnav and other in pc..

For any track or route i have a folder on my pc that they are saved too..and just connect the satnav..and open the garmin sub menue by clicking and in the folder called gpx i paste any track or route there as all garmins use gpx file type so routes are still.in gbd? Just rename them .gpx..

You need to see the satnav on pc ..like external drive. You should.have 2 options for storage usb and something else..the old satnavs arent my strong point...as the file system is complex...

There are some gpx tracks.for download in the satnav section on abr index..right click and save as file type..then open in basecamp etc..

Google uses kml file extension too...lol
