Hi all, I'm trying to use basecamp to plot a route and keep getting the error message: no unlocked maps were found for this device.
The Sat Nav is a Garmin Nuvi 2597 with lifetime European maps.
I've googled and followed some so called fixes, but still have the issue.
I'm normally very good with tech but this is doing my head in.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

I met these guys at an Horizons or a Bike Show a while ago - they do training but I think you can download free advice too:

I've not used them because my Garmin died

Do you have the maps on your computer and are they unlocked?
Is the issue just trying to put the route or maps on the unit itself?
A not uncommon problem with Garmins is that what amounts to the Licence File gets corrupted on the unit. It needs to be removed and replaced. The best way to achieve this is to ring Garmin Tech Support on their Free Phone No. They will talk you through it and send you the uncorrupted file.

Re: WANTED: Idiots Guide To Garmin Basecamp?
Hi Ali, the map is on the Garmin and not on the card or the pc ( just using the UK map for now as need an SD card).
As soon as I tried to connect via basecamp then the error kept coming up... I guess I should have really downloaded it to the PC?
Anyhow...
Treadtrader - thanks so much for the link to Motogoloco (thumbs) I just used it and it took me literally 2 mins to plot and export and its now on the Garmin. It seems slightly buggy as it doesnt seem to like dragging the route, but its definitely idiot proof!
Many thanks everyone.
