gps routing websites?

Post by V_King »

hello,

I wonder if anyone could recommend some good online routing software I could use, to prepare tracks/routes and then export file for garmin?

Also, there are lots of websites, with various routes, shown on the google maps, does anyone know if it is possible just somehow download that route without redoing it yourself?

cheers :)

p.s. I do not use windows, so any windows software recommendations would be of no use.

Just posting to subscribe to the thread, then I'll boot my laptop, I have something in my favourites that might help.

Try this, for the UK especially it's great. You create a route on the google map on the left by clicking your waypoints, using the OS window on the right to follow your green lane, then between green lanes you can plot your route from one to the next by road with only a waypoint at each junction, by clicking the follow roads checkbox, unclick it again when you want to go back off road. Then when your done click save to save your GPX file. You can even open your existing GPX files and modify them.

Also create routes anywhere in the world so long as your happy to do it from Google maps or OpenStreetMaps, but the Topo map window won't show the detail.
