Back Lane, Darley Dale.

Post by Hugh »

Greetings,

The BOATs along Back Lane, Darley Dale, have had the upper and lower sections closed by DCC with a TRO until May 2022.

Purpose, to let the grass grow on it  :?

I wouldn't be surprised if the bottom part of this lane gets a permanent TRO :(

Greetings,

As I was one who spoke at the Public Inquiry the best we could hope for was that the routes would be classified as BOAT, secondly as Bridleway so that at least cycles could use it and worst a footpath. From a safety point of view it would allow cyclists the opportunity to not have to travel on Sydnope Hill up the steepish and narrow tarmac road.

One problem with securing motor vehicle access classification is that it makes it easier and less costly for the PDNPA or DCC to place a TRO on it. However, it looks as though the current tactic in the Peak District is to 'sanitise' the routes thereby making them less interesting to green lane users. It is clearly a fact that green lane motorcyclists and 4X4 users are not welcome by the Authorities in the Peak District.

But, I know that GLASS and LARA will still fight for the Rights of all users to retain reasonable access to the countryside.

Thank you for the work that you put in on our behalf Hugh. It is always an uphill battle when defending our Rights of Way with often reduced reward at best.
