Greetings Peeps
I can't have a tool tube on my bike, coz of the chav's where I live and work will nick the lot. So whilst out this morning at a coffee stop, I was thinking, how can I fit my tools in the topbox without them scratching my lid.
It came upon me in a flash, so I rushed home, dismantled an old computer and used part of the aluminium casing.
I measured the external length and width, then subtracted the topbox wall thickness X2, now I know the dimensions. I made a cardboard template of the corner angles and marked out the shape on my aluminium sheet.
After ten mins of judicious hacksawing I had the false bottom to my topbox. I lined the bottom of the box with rubber sheet to keep noise down.
added the tools the fitted the false bottom.
put the helmet in
and checked the lid shut.
Et Voila.
Snazzy eh,
How to fit my helmet and tools in a GS aluminium topbox.

Hi Paul
I'm thinking the Mk II version may hinge and a handle to to lift up and down, maybe some foam for sound deadening.

Tidy looking job!
wouldn't a finger hole do instead of a handle?
