Has anyone used one of these?

If you know how to do something, share it with other members. i.e How to fix a puncture...How to ship a bike to Alaska etc. The post with the most 'Thank You' votes in a month wins an ABR Hoodie.

Has anyone ever used one of these?

Do they work?

Seen a video of one in action and it looks a damned site easier than chiseling.

(I've finally accepted that I can't afford a Ducati Panigale V4 so I'm going to sculpt one out of oak - something I do have a lot of. Can't be all that difficult surely?)

Sorry, blast, can't seem to make the link work.

It's a wood carving disc for an angle grinder. Looks like a kind of circular chain saw, about 15 quid, and advertised as being able to sculpt wood using a normal angle grinder.

But there are vids on youtube showing carnage, people losing their fingers etc etc - so I'm wary...

Well, at least you could find a good use for it when you tire of it - in the wood burner. It would work in there more reliably than most real-world Ducs do on the road πŸ˜„! (Actually, I've never owned one so am going entirely on hearsay and rumour; they may possibly have improved since I nearly bought a Darmah some 35 yrs ago)

I've seen a video of those, I'm sure they are good at chiselling wood. However, I would imagine that for every time it works well there would be 5 total disasters where that thing acts like the cookie monster!
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

You can get fine 'sculpture' chains for small chainsaws, and wood attachments for Dremmels.

Found this vid that demonstrates it quite well...

Takes him a fair while to create a fruit bowl for 2 bananas, but that's not the point. I can see a few uses for one of these at my place. There are still warnings in the comments about kick-back being potentially lethal though...

Dave, there fecking dangerous, awesome device for mutilating everything it touches, but you won't be doing any fine wood carving g with it.

Yeah that's the impression I'm getting Steve. It's a bit 'medieval on your arse' isn't it ?

In fact I just found this vid, and if you skip to 22.39 you will see why I might not get one after all
